The center will be closed Tuesday, December 25th and Wednesday, December 26th. We will be open on Thursday and Saturday between Christmas and New Years. We wish all of you a Happy and Healthy Holiday.

Monday, Dec. 10th- AC Trip to Trump Plaza

The bus will leave at exactly 8:00am and we need a minimum of 30 people. Avoid cancellation of the trip. Sign up and pay by Thursday, December 6th.

Tuesday, Dec. 11th- R.H.S Select Chorus

At 1:00pm Rutherford High School Select Chorus will perform. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Relax and enjoy the concert. *Pr-registration for Winter Session begins. Classes start on Tuesday, January 8th. This is a 12 week session.

Wed, Dec. 12th- Monthly Mall Trip

This will be our last mall trip to Paramus Park Mall for 2012. Bus will leave at 10:00am and the cost of the trip is $3.00 with limited seating so sign up early! The bus will return at 2:30pm. At 11:30am "Senior Gems" presented by Mary Wittleder, RN, MSN. Presentation will include a memory screening and light lunch. Reservations are required. This program is sponsored by Senior Helpers of East Rutherford.

Thursday, Dec. 13th- Dinner at Volares Restaurant

Dinner at Volares Restaurant followed by a Rutherford Tour of Lights at 4:30pm. Price has not yet been confirmed but total cost will be under $20.00. BYOB for dinner.

Friday, Dec 14th- The Endocrime System 101

What Seniors Need to Know- The endocrine system is a series of glands that release different types of hormones directly into the bloodstream. A number of organs are directly impacted by the endocrine system including the liver, heart and kidneys. After the age of 45 many of these organs are negatively affected because of an imbalance. Join St. Mary's Endocrinologist Dr. Josephine Jasper as she discusses what the signs and symptoms of common endocrine disorders are, along with preventive treatment options. Program will take place on Friday, Dec. 14th at 12:00pm. Light lunch will be served and you must make a reservation.

December 20th-NYC Trip

On Thursday December 20th we will take a trip to NYC to see an 11:00am Matinee show "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" The Musical. We will have Lunch at 1:00pm at Tony Di Napoli's-5 Course Family Style. $125.00 includes bus transportation , lunch and the show. Bus leaves at 9am and returns at approximately 4:00pm. You must pay when you sign up-no refunds. The bus will leave at 9am and will return at 4pm.

Food Drive

The Rutherford Food Pantry is serving many families who are in need of assistance. If it is within your means, when you shop for your Thanksgiving meal why not pick up a second item so that another family can also celebrate that holiday? Items will need to be dropped off at the Kip Center no later than Friday, November 16th. Receptacles will be in front of the lobby.

Atlantic City Bus Trip

Our monthly Atlantic City Bus trip to Trump Plaza will take place on Monday, November 12th. The cost is $30.00 per person and the bus leave at 8am. Please arrive 15 minutes before hand.

Festival of Trees Set up. Monday, November 12th

Monday, November 12th is the set up day for our 18th Annual Festival of Trees, Wreaths and Centerpieces. Forms are available in the office along with wreaths for anyone that would like to participate. Wreaths must be handed in either Monday, November 12th or Tuesday, November 13th. Entries are judged and ribbons awardded for "most beautiful", "most creative" and "best use of theme" and they are displayed throughout th ecenter. Raffle tickets go on sale Tuesday, November 13th for a chance to win your favorite tree wreath or centerpiece. On Saturday, December 8th the raffle tickets are pulled immediately following lunch. Winners are notified that day and staff is on hand to help pack up the winnings.

Paramus Park Shopping Trip Wednesday, November 14th.

Our monthly mall trip has been re-scheduled for the 2nd Wednesday of the month for the next two months because of the upcoming holidays. The bus will leave the center at 10am and return at 2:30pm. The cost is 3.00 and seating is limited!

Alzheimer Support Meeting. Thursday, November 15th

Our guest speaker Vivian Green Korner, MA, CDP Dementia Care Speaillist will share her knowledge and guidance to help caregivers lessen the physical and emotional toll of providing dementia care. Meetings begins at 10am and light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Unclaimed Property-Presentation and assistance with research. Tuesday, November 20th

Would you like to know if New Jersey Unclaimed Property Office is holding financial assests for you? Some examples of unclaimed assets are Stocks/Bonds, Savings and Checking Accounts, Insurance checks, and wages. At 10:00am the Outreach staff from the State of New Jersey Department of Treasury will give a short presentation and afterwards the staff will be available to search individual names on the Unclaimed Property database. You must pre-register.
